Attendance
A teacher marks the whole class present with one tap, then taps only the absentees. Re-marking corrects the record instead of duplicating it, so the day's attendance is always accurate — even if it changes twice before lunch.
Fees
Fee demands are scoped to a class, so a whole section gets billed in one action. The office sees a defaulter list with one-tap follow-up, and every payment — cash, UPI or cheque — gets a sequential numbered receipt, generated inside the same database transaction as the payment so numbers can never be skipped or duplicated.
Homework & notices
Teachers post homework by subject in seconds; parents see it against the right child automatically. Notices can be pinned, and — unlike a bolted-on translation — Tamil is a first-class language across the whole notice and parent experience, not an afterthought.
Exams & timetable
Marks entry uses correction-safe upserts — re-entering a mark fixes it instead of creating a duplicate row. Report cards stay hidden from parents until the office explicitly publishes them, and the timetable keeps every class and teacher on the same page.
Parent portal
A parent signs in with a phone number and a school-issued access code, in any browser, on any device. No app store, no forced update, no "please update to continue" screen. Language is set per guardian, and a one-tap switcher keeps siblings' records completely separate.
Mobile-first office
Principals, teachers and office staff each see a dashboard scoped to their role. Under 900px, the sidebar gives way to a bottom-tab bar with 44px+ touch targets — because most of the school office runs Kalvi from a phone, not a desk.
