Moving to KalviThe reason schools stay on software they dislike is not the software — it is the thought of re-typing eight hundred students. So we do that part, before you have paid us anything.
An Excel workbook, a CSV, a printout of the General Register, or an export from your current ERP — most of them can produce one even if the vendor is unhelpful about it. If all you have is paper, tell us how many students and we will talk about the fastest way through it.
If you would rather do it yourself, the importer takes a CSV with a header row and these six columns:
admission_nofirst_nameclass and sectionguardian_name and guardian_phoneAnything else you have — date of birth, EMIS number, address, second guardian — comes across too if it is in the sheet. Set up your classes and sections first, then upload; rows whose class does not exist are reported back to you by line number rather than silently dropped.
Tamil Nadu schools reopen in early June, and the only sane time to change systems is the holidays before that. A school that has not moved by the end of May will usually wait a full year — so if you are reading this in March, the conversation to have now is about May, not about next week.
We will still take you on in October. We will just be honest that mid-year is harder on your office staff than it needs to be.
We have no quarrel with your current vendor and we will not ask you to badmouth them. What matters practically is whether they will give you an export. Most will. If yours refuses, tell us what the screens look like and we will work out what can be got out of them — that refusal is itself worth knowing about before you renew with them.
Nothing. There is no setup fee and no migration fee on any plan, including the ₹750 nursery tier. It is not generosity — if importing your data were billable, you would put off the decision until you had a budget line for it, and we would rather have the school.
